Howdy friends,

Had an urge to see a pretty face, so looked for Dyanne.
Sorry Mike.....! You can't even stand in Dyann's shadow...ha, ha.

Hope all is well. All is well in The Netherlands for sure. We're busy doing what we do best (hopefully anyway). I now perform in Dutch theaters with a full country productions including Savannah. Never meant to. Life takes funny turns every once in a while.

Margaret, Don, Chantal and
Sansiaray tell you both hello from here also. Grandkid nr. 6 is on the way.

Love you friends.

Hi Michael and Dyann!
Thinking about you, and see that you've been in Sweden! Very cool, hope it went well...I noticed that Cactus left a msg. if you have his e-mail, I'd like to send him a line. I've been playing some Hawaiian music gigs lately at some of the retirement centers around here lately which has been fun...playing my koa wood acoustic steel. I'm also the guitar player for a musical: The Spitfire Grill at the Playhouse Theater in San Anselmo...fun music to play and all the actors/singers are strong, it's a good show! Hope alll is well with you...
Take care,
Chile Pecker

Andrew Chilson - Monday, December 17th, 2007 8:31 PM CST
Hey, Michael...
Hope you two are doing well, I've been meaning to get in touch, and Dan Fogelberg's passing yesterday made me realize we're not getting any younger. He was only 56. I remember playing with him on stage with Hillman at the helm, and selling him artist supplies when I worked at the Back Country Books on the mall. Where does the time go?
It'd be fun to get together, let me know if you're ever headed this way, and I'll do the same if I'm headed your way.
I play in church every Sunday in the ensemble and sing in the choir...also play some solo guitar for communion from time to time, so I guess our lives have taken a similar direction, even though we're not still enjoying performing together. Have you heard from Cactus? He was always fun to be on stage with...perhaps we should all retire to some beach community in another country and become a part of the local color as some of the best musician's around!
Hi to Dyann

We both greatly appreciated your ministry, and the good spirit you brought to the 8/5/07 services at Christ Church Unity, in Kansas City. We are now enjoying "Circle of Angels" and are sharing the message of your music with our friends. Reading about the church and your philosophy through this website has also been enlightening and provides a bit of background for your beautiful music. Thank you so much!

Hi Dyann, Scott smith told me you are a minister in RSI. I just became a practitioner in UCRS after several years of school. We have LIGHT ON THE MOUNTAINS church here in Idaho, where I am part of the Ministry of Prayer. Small world. So great to see your website, listen to the songs and know that we are all connected in Spirit. And so it is

Great sound the two of you have together, reminds me of the country music we once had, it makes you want to sing along.
Country music needs a new leading authentic country duo.

Michael D.Woody - Wednesday, February 21st, 2007 7:53 PM CST
if you ever get around to checkin your email, maybe you`d like to know there`s a harmonica player out here in the northern part of Calif on the coast of Humboldt County who could really use a job, and it just so happens that I even have the same name, mostly, I`d guess, not knowin`your middle name, but two out of three is pretty good, especially being the last name is really NOT that common, huh?! I can play straight harp, cross harp, and the rest of the instruments, like guitar, I do have my moments, but nothing like my skills at the harp, you know? Background, fills, and I can pretty well tear up a lead...but I just want to be able to do something, anything, if it`s music..I pretty much been an outlaw all my life, but I`ve hung up the guns, and saddle, and I`m ready for something different, `cause I really was`nt makin`it ridin`the old owl-hoot trail..outlaws just ain`t what they used to be! And I do have some writin`skills, as far as music and lyrics both go, so it`s not like I`d be dead weight for ya to haul around, either...So, whadda ya say, cousin? I ai`nt askin`fer a handout, just a hand UP! Anyway the wind blows, congrats to you and yours for your achievements, and keep-on keepin`on, wind at your back, and sun on your face, always pickin`, and always grinnin`. sincerely,
Michael D. Woody

Hey,I just discovered your website, and it feels like old times!Pix of Hillman,et al.I noticed you were in Pacific Grove this past summer.I'm close:I live in Marin Co.fell in love with it when I came out to play with Tim in '78 finally made the move in '88 from Denver.Work at British Motors in SF selling Bentleys,Lamborghinis,Lotus,Jaguars and Land Rovers(I always was a car buff!).Still playing guitar,I play every Sunday in church.Made a few recordings of my own over the years, and still miss playing in Woody and the Peckers and the Too High Band.Always loved your songwriting,Michael.I remember answering your ad at the music store and putting the Brooks Bros. together.I think we might have run into some copyight problems with those names, had we made it any further than we did!Hey,do you have any copies of Chas Barbours posters for Woody and the Peckers?(or t-shirts?)that had to be one of the best bits of artwork to come out of that era!I always enjoyed that laid back Boulder lifestyle, life just hasn't been the same since!!Anyway, let me know if you're ever out this way again,it'd be fun to lay eyes on each other!Your old band mate and steel player:
"Phase Shifter"!

Craig in Colorado - Wednesday, September 13th, 2006 12:30 PM CDT
Checking in here Woodys.

As you know, we love your music, and you two. What a strange trip from the Too High days and Dyanne's Boulder days, to your becoming Reverends and Ministering from what I imagine (in the music world) is a depth of experience. Boy, I could use some ministering on my oldest teen-age son. I'll try to get the younger two to the next show we see ya'all at.

There's a positive Karmic justice in your becoming ministers. :)

Old Boulderites wish:
How about a Boulder concert with the Reverend Furay? ;)

More power to you two on being you two. Thank you for so many great tunes that are a soundtrack to life.

Well, I'll be. I was listening to the Americana station last night and hear this great song. I look and see it's the Woodys and the album is "Telluride to Tennessee." I turn to my wife and said "I wonder if that could possibly be the same Michael Woody who had "Woody and the Too High Band" when I was at school in Boulder. They were my favorite and I always wondered what became of Michael Woody. It is GREAT to see you're still making music. Looks like I've got some CDs to buy!

Gloria King Hastings - Tuesday, October 18th, 2005 8:40 AM CDT
I've had the pleasure of seeing The Woodys perform twice at Christ Unity Church in Chattanooga, TN, and enjoy the CD's I purchased. "Circle of Angels" has taken on a new meaning for me lately. My beloved brother died very suddenly, unexpectedly and tragically just two months ago. I have found tremendous peace and comfort in listening to the song, "Circle of Angels." While meditating, I listen and envision myself encircled by beings of light, who are protecting and sustaining me. During one of the meditations, my relatives who have passed on stepped from the light, offering me reassurance. Another time, my brother walked out from the light to tell me he is okay, he is at peace and he will still be "here," watching over me. I cannot express how much this meant to me. I know it was not a "coincidence" you performed this song at the church on the day I visited (my first outing since his passing). Thank you for this song that allowed me to feel connected with my brother during such a sad time. You are both angels and healers. Having faith does not exempt one from the very human process of grief; however, God provides healing and I know he will continue to put "angels" on my path.

Claudia Bell - Sunday, October 2nd, 2005 1:03 PM CDT
Dyann, it was so great to talk to you today at Unity North Church in Marietta. I have seen you many times there before but when we met in the restroom :) and you liked my necklace and I loved your new song Horizons, I just had to buy your CD. And I absolutely loved it.It was like you wrote those songs with my soul dancing around your voice. I can easily think of 10 peopele I would like to give a copy of your CD to. Is there a way, I could get them autographed by you? Please, write me back. Thanks again for your beatiful gift of music to us.

Dyann, When Mr.Boenig asked me today if I wanted to speak to you, I was so pleased! I love your music, especially hillbilly at heart and sin city and thats the way love goes.
The Telluride to tenessee album is terriffic. Your vocals are super, and, as I said, your backup instrumentals are outstanding. You do have the best backup band in Nashville! I really enjoyed speaking with you and look forward to your music in the years to come. If you will perform in the Allentown, Pa area, please let me know.
Your new fan.

Hey Woodys

Lee Zimmerman here - writer/reviewer for Goldmine, Entertainment News & Views, Amplifier and New Times... I

I must confess that I am only familiar with your first album but I will quickly add that it has remained a personal fave... a friend of mine turned me on to you and now informs me that you have a new album(s) and hearing that, I thought I'd reach out and request a review copy (or copies) for consideration in one or more of the above... with four publications I have lots of ink to lend and who couldn't use a little ink these days? I'm hoping you might be able to catch me up with a care package -

Here's the snail mail - Lee Zimmerman, 11037 S.W. 138 Place, Miami, FL 33186

One other favor - please let me know you got this missive so I can plan accordingly -- I'll certainly look forward to hearing from you!

Thanks much

"Craze" - Saturday, September 10th, 2005 5:58 AM CDT
Hopefully this letter will copy all. Later, "Craze"

Rose........
The first day of school our professor introduced himself and challenged us to get to know someone we didn't already know. I stood up to look around when a gentle hand touched my shoulder.

I turned around to find a wrinkled, little old lady beaming up at me with a smile that lit up her entire being.
She said, "Hi handsome. My name is Rose.
I'm eighty-seven years old. Can I give you a hug?"
I laughed and enthusiastically responded, "Of course you may!" and she gave me a giant squeeze.
"Why are you in college at such a young, innocent age?" I asked.
She jokingly replied, "I'm here to meet a rich husband, get married, and have a couple of kids..."
"No seriously," I asked. I was curious what may have motivated her to be taking on this challenge at her age.
"I always dreamed of having a college education and now I'm getting one!" she told me.
After class we walked to the student union building and shared a chocolate milkshake.
We became instant friends. Every day for the next three months we would leave class together and talk nonstop. I was always mesmerized listening to this "time machine" as she shared her wisdom and experience with me.
Over the course of the year, Rose became a campus icon and she easily made friends wherever she went.
She loved to dress up and she reveled in the attention bestowed upon her from the other students. She was living it up.
At! the end of the semester we invited Rose to speak at our football banquet.
I'll never forget what she taught us. She was introduced and stepped up to the podium. As she began to deliver her prepared speech, she dropped her three by five cards on the floor.
Frustrated and a little embarrassed she leaned into the microphone and simply said, "I'm sorry I'm so jittery. I gave up beer for Lent and this whiskey is killing me! I'll never get my speech back in order so let me just tell you what I know."
(this cracked me up!)
As we laughed she cleared her throat and began, "We do not stop playing because we are old; we grow old because we stop playing.
There are only four secrets to staying young, being happy, and achieving success. You have to laugh and find humor every day. You've got to have a dream. When you lose your dreams, you die.
We have so many people walking around who are dead and don't even know it!
There is a huge difference between growing older and growing up.
If you are nineteen years old and lie in bed for one full year and don't do one productive thing, you will turn twenty years old. If I am eighty-seven years old and stay in bed for a year and never do anything I will turn eighty-eight.
Anybody can grow older. That doesn't take any talent or ability. The idea is to grow up by always finding opportunity in change. Have no regrets.
The elderly usually don't have regrets for what we did, but rather for things we did not do. The only people who fear death are those with
regrets."
She concluded her speech by courageously singing "The Rose."
She challenged each of us to study the lyrics and live them out in our daily lives.
At the year's end Rose finished the college degree she had begun all those years ago.
One week after graduation Rose died peacefully in her sleep.
Over two thousand college students attended her funeral in tribute to the wonderful woman who taught by example that it's never too late to be all you can possibly be.
These words have been passed along in loving memory of ROSE.

REMEMBER, GROWING OLDER IS MANDATORY. GROWING UP IS OPTIONAL.
We make a Living by what we get, We make a Life by what we give.
God promises a safe landing, not a calm passage. If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.

"Good friends are like stars.........You don't always see them, but you know they are always there."

Woody, I sent this to you for the obvious reason. I do although think there is a few choice lyrics in this little story. Later my brother from another mother.

Timothy R. McClintock

Watching the movie "Grand Theft Parsons" while I am working, (midnight to 7A.M..) don't know how good it is going to be but will check it out. Of course the movie makes me think of you and possibly our old crazy days. My son started college three weeks ago. What a trip. Your E-mail adress is in Aarons computer, my old one. He is living again with his mother for the time being. So had to send message this way.. Update..... Good news. Haven't drank for 17 months. Better news. Bought 50% ownership on a bar with a Lawyer friend of mine from Boulder. The bar is in a little town, Quepos, on the Pacific side of Costa Rica Later my "old friend". Hope this note finds it way to you with all things great for you and you wife. The "Craze"

I just heard your song, "Message from Michael" on 12stepradio.com and was moved to tears. My sons father, Michael died from this disease before he had the chance to meet his son. I have always used his death as a message. Thank you for a beautiful albeit painful memory.

I happened by chance to hear just a little bit of a couple of your songs from the Teardrops and Diamonds CD while at a bookstore. I instantly loved your music and knew I needed to hear the whole album. The bookstore did not have it in stock so I ordered it through them. A week later I received it and played it in its entirety. I love every song on the album and that is a rarity for me. Please let me know if you every come to Kansas City or anywhere near to perform. Thanks so much for music I will always love. Keep doing what you are doing. You are the best.

Hello Michael and Dyann,

I'm the guy responsible for Bob Stane contacting you, and I hope you will be able to secure a gig at the Coffee Gallery. I know that your music will be very warmly received there, especially by those of us who still love and appreciate California Country Rock.

On a personal note, I was with two of your very good friends who are also very good friends of mine last night. Chris Hillman and Herb Pedersen. They were performing at a house concert in southern California, and I mentioned to them hearing quite by accident "Teardrops and Diamonds" and how impressed I was with that song, and getting in touch with Bob shortly afterwards.

Warm Regards,

Alan Rockman

Hi Michael and Dyann...Sean here, from Colorado. Don't know if you remember me, Michael, but I bought your beautiful blue Ricki way back in the mid-80s. Loved that guitar and it served me well. Playing a mighty 360-12 nowadays. Anyway, I was just listening to an old Too High band demo this morning (I still love "Bop-Shabang"!) and thought about you, Michael. Memories drifted to The Beverly Hills Brothers, too. Hope Robert is well...I've lost touch with all of you celebrities. LOL
Are you coming anywhere near Colorado Springs for your June dates? Would love to see you two play. I own both CDs and love your stuff. Take care...and don't forget Colorado. All the best, Sean

Wow what a trip! We are talking Woody, formerly 'Woody and the Peckers'? I've long left Boulder behind, but will never forget the music. Some of the most intense fun I can remember. Heck, even C. Spgs and the Stumble-Inn. Think I even have an old cassette tape of the band. Glad to see you made it. All the best.

Fred and Donnie Shelton - Thursday, March 27th, 2003 2:58 PM CST
Hello, Michael -
I don't know if you remember us - my husband, Fred, had Fred's Restaurant in Boulder, CO. Mike Aisner produced Fred's first album in 1975 while he was managing the Gone Johnson Band (they were Rufus Krisp before that). The album was titled "Live at Fred's" - and it included the song "She Takes the Green," which you wrote with Peg Warren. We are reprising that album as a CD and would like to get a license from you and Peg Warren to do that. We will start with 500 copies. Hopefully we will need more later. :>) I couldn't find you or the song on ASCAP. BMI or the copyright office online. Mike Aisner gave me your website address. I hope this gets to you - don't know any other way to reach you. Please email us at TiwiPub1@aol.com - or phone us at 303-823-0529 - so we may get your address or your publisher's name and address to send a license request. We hope to have our website up and running by April 1. It's there now, but not finished.
We listened to a couple of your MP3s - love your and Dyann's sound! We hope success continues to come your way!

I used to follow you and the too high band. remember Daners? I was shawn scotts roommate for a spell and used to play in a band with him. You played with us on a couple of occasions. I've been searching for almost twenty years for a recording of 'heaven knows" anything available besides pat carlsons( daners big blonde norwegian barkeep) worn and broken demo tape

Hello Woodys-

I caught your set at Billy Block's writer's night at The Basement. I performed my tribute song to Gram Parsons right before you guys took the stage. It was nice to meet both of you afterward. My wife and I have seen you perform before and were delighted to get to see you play again. It did not hit me, Dyann, but when you mentioned you did the track on "Gram's Notebook"...Song for you..., that I actually blanked out and did not make the connection, I bought that record when it first came out. Silly me. Anyway, what I enjoy most out of your performance, besides how refreshing and happy it makes me feel inside, is the way that both of you connect with each other on stage and sing and smile right into each other's eyes. That is a very special and magical thing to witness. I only wish I could get my wife to sing with me, she is 1,000 times shy. I wish the both of you well, and maybe one day we can sit around and pick some Gram tunes together, that would be cool. Best to you both- Marc Clayton

Dear All,

RootsTown Music Free-zine is the only e-zine in Belgium and Holland specialised in American roots music (blues, r&b, soul, cajun/zydeco, country, bluegrass, folk, americana, singer-songwriters, jazz...) and world music. Most of all it's focused on releases coming from the small independent record labels or the artists themselves. We have a philosophy at RootsTown Music that says that you can't keep good music alive if you don't go looking for it. Sadly most of that good music are releases by independent record labels or artists that are not made available in Belgium and Holland by distributors or majors, or just have a limited distribution. And that's where we come in: the direct link between the labels/artists and hundreds of roots music enthusiasts.
This introduction probably sounds funny because we know each other from your concert at The Thunderbird Caf

something about that ne colorado town must have aligned the musical molecules right. I hold up The Woodys CD and tell people this guy took pictures at my wedding like I'm colonel friggin' parker. Kris (Wilshusen) and I are still married and alive and well in Wichita, KS, got a kid whose a jr at CU, spend time on the road with String Cheese, after spending years in therapy to recover from it I spend time around bluegrass festival campfires with the accordion, and just bought a mandolin and an determined to play it if it kills me or music or both.
Oh, and I have a real job as a creative director for an ad agency.
Can't wait to hear the new album. The first would have been great even if you hadn't taken pictures at our wedding.

Hi Dyann & Michael!
I answered your e-mail to me a couple of weeks ago, and the message was
kicked back. I'll try again. I heard you in Nashville (I was the logistics
person) and would love to have you at our Center for Conscious Living for the
Sunday service. We generally don't do concerts, unless you would want to do
it on a percentage basis, with people coming to hear you after they've been
exposed to you at the service.

Will look forward to hearing from you re: dates possible, fee, etc.
Love, Pat Palmer
